From approach to departure, every facet of the future mobility experience has been explored to pioneer fresh innovation, technology and service creation.

AVS is a very real experience: working physical and digital interfaces are seamlessly blended within an immersive, dynamic and virtual environment. As such, it went far beyond conventional prototypes or concept cars. Situated in the historical heart of the automotive industry, over the course of three months AVS played host to a multitude of stakeholders and partners, transforming their understanding of mobility through tangible and operational user experiences.

A year of intense global research, uncovering compelling insights into mobility services and trends, centred on the core user experience and led to our pioneering inside-out design approach. Current manufacturing and design methodologies used within the automotive industry require refinement for an electric, autonomous future. Inside-Out is our response to this; when you no longer need to drive, the time you spend in getting from A to B can be used for so much more than simply travelling. AVS is therefore a space designed in which to relax, share, work and think; a sanctuary to make the best use of the time.

Such a space brings with it the enormous potential of service creation and brand partnership to create fresh revenue streams.

Innovative new service models within AVS place goods and content within easy reach, while intelligent connection to the outside environment brings timely and relevant interaction with passing retail opportunities and discoveries directly into the vehicle.

Windows incorporating responsive digital glass together with spatially precise audio creates a uniquely immersive experience, allowing guests to transform the space into a noise-cancelled private sanctuary, or allow whatever they wish of the outside to come inside.

User interfaces, appearing only when contextually relevant, are woven beautifully into the very fabric and texture of the interior; Multi-modal interactions such as touch and voice are combined with high resolution displays and projections hidden within the table veneers, windows and seating to avoid visual overload and promote a calming, revitalising environment.

The Autonomous Vehicle Simulator was awarded Gold by IDSA in 2018.
